It has dawned on me that the guts this has taken to open up this blog are spilling out as I type. It is no lie that this journey for fundraising $10,000 would be viewed as difficult, but it actually is!!! Moving forward helping people live towards a life fulfilling future is the goal. Joining the gap between reaction, action, and distraction is the struggle.
Found out the Try-This-Triathlon results, I finished 2nd overall female, with a 1hr.25min. time!! My time in the 1 Mile Sea Swim last year was 40:10, this year 35:05! My goal was closer to 30min, but ... eh :) I'll settle for the 5min. improvement! My fitness level has increased, however it is still no match for a horse and concrete. Last night I'm sorry to say I was pummeled to the ground with Charm the horse... She slipped and fell coming to fast around the corner, which it was my fault I should not have been riding her bare back in the first place. My right eye is swollen half way shut, bloody, lips swollen like cherry tomatoes, bloody, face bruised purple grape shade, (so far) bloody, knees renegade style scraped up, also bloody.
I consider myself fortunate to have not broken anything, walked away, not a tear. We'll see how this heals though, maybe tears have yet to come... Charm is ok, she was just scraped up a little on the hip, and front leg. It will amaze me to see how fast she responds to the word WOAH next time I see her.

Media

Today a meeting with a life saver took place. I am proud to say that as of tonight, pending on contract, a media agreement has been made!! World, here in Cayman, be prepared to hear about the Redemption Climb all summer. From summer to summer, years to follow, get ready.

Redemption Climb, 2010, Mt. Kilimanjaro is just the beginning in this humanitarian effort towards a positive movement! The flood gates are about to open, 2011 is already in the mix being set up. This annual fund raising, live changing, phenomenon just grew wings.

Africa being chosen as the first location, Spain will be next. It is my desire to fulfill a trip every year with a group of individuals that are willing to sacrifice there time, energy, and thought into helping people towards helping themselves. Opening the technology horizon that humans have created travelling over seas, into the rustic ancient trekking way over land. Roots, unity, respect.

Training

My oh my, where does the time go? It seems as though just one month ago preparations began to take place for this large idea, and now nearly half the time has passed before the day we will be travelling arrives!! Fund raising has been a slow-up hill struggle trying to organize things, contact people, just (all in all) get the word out about what exactly I'm trying to do, and why.

In December I accomplished my first triathlon, a 750m swim, 20k bike ride, and 5k run. Supposedly a 5k run at least! Using a mountain bike on a flatter than flat bike terrain with little-to no gear stability was a large disadvantage. I finished so slow on the bike that it appeared to the marshals that I was to run the Olympic distance of 10k, which I was already suffering with blisters on my feet due to a new pair of skateboarding shoes acquired the week prior. Transitioning after the bike ordeal I shouted to the officials begging them to let me continue towards the run in bare feet. They acknowledged, approved, and I set out. Running barefoot. My stampede battle towards the finish was relentless in effort, I finished so brilliantly with an extra 5k under my belt that today I set out on another triathlon endeavor.
Awakening at 5:03am this morning early enough to bike my happy one-speed, rusted, white-frame, pink-wheelie steed to the starting line I did today's triathlon in 1hr 25min flat! Not to mention so far this month I've done boot camp, swam a mile (training for the Flowers Sea Swim), and joined a beach volleyball team every Sunday team name Victorious Secrets!
Don't forget the die hard Frisbee games every Friday too!!
My intentions are to hopefully host an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, July 5th @ Caymana Bay. The triathlon was there today, and honestly it was a beautiful set up for an event. I look forward to planning more on this coming up!

There has also been an addition to our travelling entourage. Nick Frazier will be joining us in our journey, fund raising for a local charity in Texas. I encourage anyone who would view climbing this mountain as difficult as any of us envision it being, or even any other life struggle to attempt to do so! I hope that by accomplishing something this treacherous future youths will join these journeys not only out of adventure, but redemption towards other persons struggles through life. Spreading hope, excitement, longevity towards higher goals!
